The issues being discussed at this year’s event could not be more topical:

The European Club Association (ECA) have demanded that international bodies UEFA and FIFA set up an insurance scheme to cover players injured playing for their national sides. The need for such a policy was made clear in the cases of Appiah and Van Persie. Get an expert update on recent case law, as well as practical information on claiming compensation and how clubs can protect themselves through insurance and other measures.

A recent spate of allegations of corruption in sport have emphasised the need for sporting bodies, clubs and players to defend against this ever-present threat. David Douglas, Chairman of the WPBSA Disciplinary Committee will provide an inside account of the recent John Higgins case, sharing valuable experience and tips on handling an integrity incident. David will share his practical experience of a high-profile integrity investigation and the positive steps taken by the WPBSA, who have established a new integrity unit to ensure the game is protected.

UEFA have implemented their 'Financial Fair Play' rules, and clubs must be fully compliant by the 2012/13 season if they wish to participate in the UEFA Champions League or Europa League. Chris Alexander, Finance Director of Chelsea FC, will examine UEFA's regulations from a club's perspective, and pose whether these regulations will in practice “help, not hurt, football clubs”. This session will assess the likely affect these regulations will have on the market for players including player salaries, transfer fees and other payments to players.

For cutting-edge analysis of the latest developments in sports law this event cannot be missed.
