Mike Stow, Head of Science and Medicine, UK Anti-Doping
Michael has spent the last four years working in anti-doping having joined UK Sport in 2006 before moving over to UK Anti-Doping was formed in December 2009. In March this year he was appointed as the Head of Science and Medicine.
In this time he has led on a number of organisation initiatives including a full steroid profiling programme, a blood profiling programme, supporting the GH-2004 research team in establishing a new Growth Hormone test and supporting the nutritional supplements risk management resulting in HFL’s Informed-Sport.
Prior to this he spent two years in the pharmaceutical industry having been employed by both Gilead Sciences Ltd and GlaxoSmithKline.
Paolo Lombardi, CEO, SportsTeam (ex-Head of Disciplinary & Governance at FIFAPaolo Lombardi is CEO and founder of SportsTeam, a sports advisory business based in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Paolo has recently left FIFA after eight years following the successful completion of the World Cup in South Africa. His responsibilities at FIFA included dealing with international football related matters, such as labour and transfer disputes, players’ agents, disciplinary and doping matters, football governance and ethics related issues. Paolo served as Deputy Head of the Players' Status department prior to taking the position as Head of the FIFA Disciplinary & Governance department, which he held from 2007 to 2010. Paolo was in charge of legal matters at all FIFA World Cups and tournaments, including the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. He was actively involved in the drafting of all FIFA regulations and sat in all FIFA Committee meetings relevant to his position and dealt with many of the leading international football disputes and disciplinary-related issues (among which the Webster case, the Mutu case and the Quest investigation).
Roberto Branco Martins, General Manager, European Association of Football AgentsFrom 2000 to 2003 Branco Martins worked as Manager European Affairs for the Dutch employer's organization in Professional Football. During this experience he was project manager for two European Commission funded projects on the promotion of the Social Dialogue in the European Professional Football industry. As a result Roberto joined the Asser International Sports Law Centre from 2003 to 2008.
Roberto has extensive experience in the legal aspects related to the business of international football and has consulted clubs, individual players and their agents, sport associations, national governments, the European Parliament and the European Commission. He lectures labour law and sport at the faculty of law of the University of Amsterdam and is connected to the Edge Hill University Research Centre for Sport and Law. Currently he is involved in research related to the implementation of the European Social Dialogue in professional football.
Roberto has written numerous articles / publications and is a regular speaker at international conferences dealing with international sports (law). He is a member of the Dutch sports lawyers association, the International Sports Lawyers Association, the association for Sport and the EU. Roberto speaks Dutch, English, Portuguese, Spanish, German and French.
As the founder and director of ProAgent which is the Dutch association of FIFA licensed player agents and of the European Football Agents Association (EFAA), Roberto's activities are governed by sports, law and regulation on a daily basis. Currently Roberto is involved in discussions about the future regulation of players' agents. EFAA consists of 15 national agents associations including Argentina and Brazil as associated members, and is the collective voice of the connected agents.
